Now We Are a Family of 4!!!!
More resting...
Friday morning (Sept. 2) at 2:04am Bridger McKay Haralson was born at Poudre Valley Hospital here in Fort Collins, Colorado! We found out earlier this week that, just like with Asher, Emily's fluids were low with our second son, Bridger. They scheduled Emily to be induced on Thursday morning at 7:30am. Bridger's due date was Sept. 15th, so he would be born about 2 weeks early (Asher was 4 days late) . Anyways, the oxytocin didn't really kick in until about 9:30am (after hooking Emily up to IVs and such and going through all the paperwork). It was a very slow process, turning up the oxytocin about a point every half an hour until Emily got to 9 on the amount of oxytocin she was receiving. Bridger's heart rate started to drop so we stayed at 9 for awhile. Emily started off dialated at a 3 then moved to a 5. She stayed around 5 to 6 for awhile. Emily wanted to try and do this whole thing natural (she had an epideral with Asher). Our rule was for her to ask me 4 times for an epideral before I would let her get one. Anyways, the contractions started coming slowly for most of the day then started to pick up in the afternoon. Through the entire day we were able to try all kinds of things to help with the pain (and help get the baby out) like walking, listening to soft music, swaying on the yoga ball, and relaxing in the jacuzzi. It seemed like it was an eternity for Emily because I think from about 8pm to 1:30am Emily had contractions coming very fast and hard and had lots of back pain. It began to be very sad for me around 1:00am when Emily was in so much pain, and I couldn't do anything but to keep cheering her on. She asked I think 3 times total for the epideral, but everyone there (the doctor and nurses and me) were all encouraging her to go on. Well, she went on, and just as she thought this would never end, her water broke and the baby was ready to come out. Emily pushed through about 4 contractions before the baby came out (it was only about 10 minutes of pushing total). Emily was so amazing! I am just so proud of her! It was such a long and grueling day, but we are so happy Emily and Bridger are both healthy. Bridger was a bit small at 5lbs 7oz but 19 in. long. He looks way different than Asher did. He doesn't have much hair at all, and the hair he does have is blondish/reddish. He seems to have the big Haralson nose and lips. Anyways, thanks everyone for their prayers and support. We are doing great and both Emily and Bridger are healthy. I also want to thank my sister, Jennifer, and my mom for helping take care of Asher all Thursday and Friday night while we did this whole thing. We couldn't have done it without their help.
